Have you been listening to the wrong voice? God’s not the prosecutor; He’s the defense. He doesn’t condemn you or threaten you or wait for you to do better before He loves you. He already dealt with your sin at the cross, so He’s not bringing that back up. God’s voice sounds like a mentor, not a drill sergeant. It sounds like, “I love you; you’re forgiven; I’m for you.” Train your ear for that voice, and reject anything that doesn’t sound like it.
