Most of us grew up thinking God wanted our sacrifice: our good behavior, our perfect obedience. But Jesus said the opposite. He said God desires mercy, not sacrifice (Matthew 9v13). In other words, He’d rather you see His compassion than see you striving to keep Him happy. He’d rather you know you’re loved than you trying to prove your love. Relationship over religion. People over impeccable theology. Mercy over sacrifice.
