For years I could say “God is love” yet still wonder when He’s going to make me pay. Eventually I realized both things can’t be true. That’s when I started to see things differently, especially in my Bible reading. Like every time I ran into a verse that made God sound angry or demanding, I’d imagine Jesus there saying, “See it through Me.” Paul called Jesus the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1v15). So Jesus is what God actually looks like. And that’s not anger behind a facade of love. It’s real, pure love.
