Scientists put people in an MRI machine and asked them to think about something they felt guilty over. Then they tested different phrases to calm that guilt down. Over 70% of the time the phrase that worked the best by far: “I forgive myself.” Anything else leads to a “yes, BUT.” “I forgive myself” doesn’t. It’s final, with no exceptions. That’s not just science, that’s the gospel too. Jesus already considered every sin and called it finished. So next time guilt tries to argue with you, the only comeback you need contains just three words: “I forgive myself” (because God already has).
