Something that’s helped me with jabs or rejection: Most of the time, it’s not about me. It’s about who I reminded them of. The word for it is projection. It’s when someone’s past colors how they see you in the present. Doesn’t erase the hurt. But it does make their words easier to release. So next time someone’s reaction stings, tell yourself: This probably isn’t about me, but someone I reminded them of. (Btw, this is why knowing what God says about you isn’t optional.)
