As we in the U.S. prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I want to invite you to consider a different kind of holiday—one your soul might be longing for right now.
Hebrews 10:17–18 says: “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds. And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.”
Friend, I know you’re not sacrificing animals, but maybe you’re sacrificing peace—trying to give more, grieve more, pray more, read more, wrestle more—hoping it will finally be enough.
But it never will be.
That’s why Jesus came. He did what you couldn’t.
So if you find yourself still striving, still running, still sacrificing to gain something from God…
It’s time to stop.
It’s time to rest.
It’s time to put your soul on vacation.
Watch my full teaching, “A Vacation for Your Soul,” and discover the rest Jesus died to give you. (Also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.)
This Fourth of July, take the truest kind of holiday.
Sit your soul down and enter the rest of God.
