As a kid, I had to memorize the 10 commandments before I could even read them.
My church school tested us frequently on them, too.
I was taught that the commandments are a way to measure how good or bad we are. I used them to gauge whether God was happy or mad at me at any given moment.
I have learned that I am not the only one who thought this way.
Certainly, God established His rules for a good reason. But I found it is not the reason that I believed for so long.
