By Before the cross, the devil had a powerful weapon.
He used it like a prosecutor in a courtroom.
He still tries to use it, in fact. It’s the law (of Moses) with its 613 commandments ready to condemn anyone who slips up.
And let’s be honest, we all slip up. That’s why his accusations can feel so real.
But here’s the thing. They WERE real, BEFORE the cross, when the law was in effect.
But then came the cross.
Colossians 2:14 says, “He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”
That wasn’t just forgiveness. It was a system overhaul.
On the cross, Jesus fulfilled the law and paid the debt, which stripped the devil of his weapon.
That means the enemy can still accuse, but his accusations are meaningless. He can still whisper, “You’re not enough,” but he has no legal ground to stand on.
The courtroom is closed. The charges are gone.
This truth changed everything for me.
I used to live under the weight of “not enough.” Not holy enough. Not obedient enough. Not strong enough.
But when I saw that Jesus canceled the charges, I stopped trying to earn what was already mine: love, forgiveness, grace.
Friend, you don’t have to live under guilt, shame or condemnation. The law that once gave the devil power has been fulfilled.
You’re not on trial anymore. You’re free!
So when the enemy tries to drag you back into court, remind yourself: the case was closed at the cross. And the verdict still stands—Not guilty!
