Have you ever felt overwhelmed by all the spiritual voices out there—some saying one thing, others saying another?
That’s exactly what was happening in 2 Corinthians. Paul was under house arrest in Rome, and people were starting to question his authority and message.
Why?
Because others—more polished, more charismatic—were gaining popularity with a message that sounded spiritual but was actually a mix of law and grace.
A little Jesus… plus a little “do more, try harder.”
But Paul reminded them—and us—of something powerful. He said:
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” —2 Corinthians 10:5 (ESV)
In other words, when confusion creeps in, go back to the truth. Take those competing thoughts captive.
Remember what God has already done through Jesus: He washed you, justified you and made you holy (1 Corinthians 6:11).
He saved you—and He sustains you. Not by your effort, but by His grace.
That’s the heart of renewing your mind: not striving for something new, but embracing what’s already true.
